The last load of firewood is in. I don’t mind working in the wood pile, good clean fun! I sure do miss the kids though. Cost this year: $550 for the wood, $434 for a new saw, $82 for a splitter, about $15 for gas- Total $1081 for a little more than 6 cords. Plus the 26 hours it took Patti and I to cut, split and stack.

Looks like the weather is clearing….. our last walk on the beach for a few months. We decided to come back in the Spring, maybe late March or earliy April. 2 years between trips is much too long.

Today is our last full day here. Our routine has become pretty much set in this short week. Get up, go for a long walk on the beach, come back and have a latte or 2. Then, finally we can relax. Rosco will have a hard time adjusting.

We are enjoying our morning walks on the beach. There is nothing like the sound of the waves first thing in the morning, and the sand under your feet.Â
Today was the first rainy day we’ve had this week! We didn’t seem to notice the rain until we turned around to walk back to the beach house! Here we are … a little damp!!
Love this life !

Technical difficulties prevented me from making yesterday’s post so I’ll include 2 pictures today. We drove down to Hatteras Light. The beach there is beautiful although the water is colder there. Rosco had a good time. The second picture is of the Sound side sunset a couple of roads down from us. No one is renting the houses, so we can walk right out to the water.

Kinnakeeter- A resident of Kinnakeet township, North Carolina. Historically named Kinnakeet, the town was renamed Avon by the U.S. Postal Service when a post office was established there in 1883.
Also happens to the the name of our rental home for this week. This is the first home we have rented that has a views of both the ocean and the sound.

Stayed tuned for a picture of the day.
